NineSigma, representing a major Japanese medical device manufacturer, seeks an automated technology to open the packaging of a single-use medical device (hereinafter, the “device”) selected from various devices that are stored on display, and then take the device out of the packaging while keeping it sterile.

The client welcomes many proposals, including those for a concept-level technology that has never been applied to medical devices but will likely achieve the requirements below in principle.
The client is a medical device manufacturer who develops systems for device storage and management in the clean area of medical institutions. Opening a package in a short time while keeping the device sterile is a challenge to overcome for commercialization. However, the client has yet to discover a potential technology that can fulfill the above requirements.
On the other hand, considering that technologies to manage and open packages automatically and containers have been widely commercialized, potential solutions for this request are likely to exist all over the world. Therefore, the client has issued this open request to accelerate development and commercialization.
