NineSigma, representing Hyundai Motor Company, is seeking novel additives or processes to improve dispersion of the slurry for the manufacturing of Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) without affecting the performance of the electrode.

Proposals are widely welcomed from organizations that have strengths either in additives for dispersion improvement or novel process equipment to prepare uniform dispersion of viscous slurry.
Hyundai Motor Company has been manufacturing Membrane Electrode Assembly as a part of their fuel cell development program. To produce MEA, Hyundai prepares a viscous dispersion of Platinum on Carbon (Pt/C) with a binder in an alcohol solvent. Then, this slurry is coated and dried around 80°C. The performance of the electrode is dependent on the uniformity of the dispersion.
In order to achieve the best electrode performance Hyundai is looking for novel additives / processes that increase the dispersion of the electrode slurry, while not affecting the performance of the MEA.
