Aspire Academy invites proposals from Startups, SMEs, and Corporates for technologies that can support the implementation of a discrete, unnoticeable wearable sleep monitoring device for professional athletes.

Aspire Academy is looking for easy-to-use, minimally-invasive devices with software support to enable fast, accurate, and objective assessment of the person’s (night) rest periods throughout the day.
Since 2004, Aspire Academy strive to scout and help develop elite youth Qatari athletes, while also providing them with secondary school education. In this context, bad nutrition habits and sleep insufficiency are common among children and adolescents from Qatar and the Middle East region.
Clinical evidence suggests that maintaining a regular sleep routine is essential to support optimal growth, development and maximise physical performance.
To tackle these issues, QRDI and Aspire Academy are seeking wearable devices to monitor and provide a structural breakdown of sleep habits and rest patterns (e.g. total duration, quality, stages, circadian rhythm).
The monitoring device is expected to be supported by software (mobile app etc) that can elaborate the data collection, process the data and provide an output of the sleep habits and stage composition.
The registered data would enable coaches to customize training sessions on individual needs e.g. more resting time between exercises or training sessions if the person couldn’t recover properly in the days before.
In addition, the device would make the sporter aware of his/her sleeping/resting patterns, the potential impact on his/her performances, and allow him/her to adjust resting/sleeping patterns by adding additional rest moments during the day or taking any other measures.
Submissions to this Challenge must be received by Aug 17, 2023.
