Aspire Academy strives to be the leading sports institution for youth athlete development worldwide. Aspire Academy invites proposals from Startups, SMEs, and Corporates for technologies that can objectively measure and assess athletes’ dietary intake.
The organizer is looking for smart technologies that could measure and assess the macronutrient and energy profile of the food eaten by the athletes in the Aspire Academy´s buffet.
Balanced nutrition is one of the most important aspects that affect the development and performance of both amateur and professional athletes.
To provide the best nutritional service provision to student-athletes, the Football Performance & Science Department at Aspire Academy has a world-class team of nutritionists and seeks to work with the best chefs in their facilities. Typically, athletes eat in the Aspire Academy buffets and are expected to self-report their dietary intake to the respective nutritionist.
Although food tracking and calorie monitoring apps are facilitating athletes to keep track of their food, they are prone to imprecision and self-report bias. Currently, no accurate and consistent methodology for the assessment of dietary intake is adopted worldwide.
This challenge aims to identify novel dietary intake measuring technologies that can be easily adopted and scaled to the public dining buffets.
The primary objective of these technologies should be an accurate quantification of the number of calories and macronutrients breakdown for a given meal. Technologies should enable data centralization that performance nutritionist can leverage for tailoring dietary recommendations.
Submissions to this Challenge must be received by Aug 17, 2023.
