Senior defense industry officials from the United Kingdom think this plan to make British weapons and other military equipment is viable and has particularly good prospects. Furthermore, they are already discussing specific plans with their colleagues in Ukraine.
According to a recent publication in The Telegraph, transferring military-industrial production capabilities could deepen the country’s integration into NATO and also significantly strengthen friendly relations between Great Britain and Kyiv.
The currently proposed idea is to establish joint ventures between Ukrainian and British companies capable of producing British weapons and military vehicles on the same level as they are made in the UK.
Such production would be carried out based on a production license, but everything would be done locally, in Ukraine.
The publication also notes that a similar idea is pursued by some other European defense companies that are already in discussions with the Ukrainian government and local manufacturers. For this reason, Britain is particularly keen to “outrun” their key competitors from France and Germany.
