What is JioFi?

When Mukesh Ambani launched the Jio 4G sim card in 2015 then, it was a revolution for consumers as well as for different service providers in India.

But an issue arises, because Jio sim was only supported in 4G devices so non-4G handset consumer wasn’t able to use Jio. So because of this Jio launched JioFi in 2016. And because of JioFi people can able to surf in 4G speed even in 3G or 2G handset.

JioFi works as a portable router, as it has a slot for Jio sim, and after activating you can use JioFi. Apart from this, you can also take this portable router with you anywhere you want.

JioFi has the capability to connect to 10 devices at a time along with USB connection. You can also make calls, SMS, and access high-speed data.

How to login to JioFi?

If you want to change your SSID, and some other JioFi settings then you have to go to the login page. In other words, the admin panel to modify many of the JioFi router settings. 

Now, I am going to show you how to do so with appropriate images of the same so just follow my steps:-

Step 1:- Connect your smartphone or laptop with your JioFi network.

To know your Wi-Fi default SSID and password remove your battery then you will find your default SSID and password. Like the image is given below,

Step 2:- When you are connected, open any browser on your PC or smartphone.

Step 3:- Now type http://jiofi.local.html/or 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.225.1 in your browser address bar.

Step 4:- Now you will see the router’s admin panel, click on Login which is on the right side.

Step 5:-Now a prompt would have appeared for login.

You can see your username and password in the back of your JioFi router by removing the battery or also in the back of the packaging box.

Step 6:-Login with your credentials and that’s all, now you can modify your settings (most probable username and password come default are the administrator).

Now as you have talked all about “How to login JioFi?”, now we are going to discuss “how to change the password of JioFi?”.

How to change the password of JioFi?

As you have logged in your account by using the above procedures you will see the interface like this, click on Network > Wi-Fi Configuration.

As you can see in the below image I have marked three square boxes with numbers indicating each box. I will describe every square box by their indicating numbers.

About 1 square:- If you want to change your Wi-Fi password then you can change it from here.

About 2 square:- If you want to change your Wi-Fi network name which is also called SSID then you can change it from 2nd number box.

About 3 square:- Here this is about whether you want to show your network name to others or not. If you Enabled this then everybody whoever will open their Wi-Fi they can see your Wi-Fi name.

But, if you have disabled your SSID Broadcast then nobody can identify your network because they can’t see your SSID(network name)  and look something like this (shown below with image).

We have successfully changed the password and SSID of JioFi, now we will discuss “How to change JioFi’s login ID and password?”     

How to change JioFi’s login ID and password?

Click on Account management > User Management and now you can modify your login Id credentials and save.

How to find out your JioFi number?

If you have forgotten your JioFi number and are confused now what to do then don’t worry there are several easy steps to find out the number of your Jio sim which you are using in your JioFi router.

For sure, if you have installed your Sim card in your JioFi by yourself then you would have a package that came with Sim card. So you can find your number written on that but unfortunately, if you have forgotten your number and your Sim-card package too, what to do now??

Relax don’t worry Jio has provided some easy process for the same.

Process 1:- I am sure many of you already knew about this process, If you have another phone in your hand then just call that number from your phone using Jio4GVoice Application and see your number.

Process 2:- Now we can also check your number by sending SMS, you have to send a message by any Jio number or any other non-Jio number.

• First, you have to find your JioFi IMEI number. If you don’t know how to find then just do this:-
• Remove your Battery compartment, now you will see manufacturing details along with your IMEI note down that.
• If you have another Jio number send an SMS with your Jio number:-
• Send this “Jio IMEI-number” to 199.
• Ex- Jio 234567891234523 to 199.
• But if you are using another service provider sim like Airtel, Vodafone, etc.
• Then send this SMS “Jio IMEI-number” to 7021799999.
• You have to type the same message but send to different number as they are different service providers.

Process 3:- To know your JioFi number another process is by using the MyJio app.

Step 1:- Download the MyJio app from Google Play Store or Apple store.

Step 2:- Open Jio app, as it comes with user-friendly and easy to use a design you can help your relative as well.

Step 3:- Now tap on Jiofi user, and if you have another sim registered with JioFi then type the number click on generate OTP or you can click connect to JioFi.

Note:- The image which I have used above is an updated version of the MyJio app If your interface is different than me kindly update your app from Google Play Store or Apple store.

Step 4:- If your Jio number and registered number both are same then you can choose another number and click on proceed. Enter the OTP and log in.

Note:- The chosen number will become your “Registered number”.

Step 5:- Now you have successfully logged in MyJio app, now you can do and access these things from the MyJio app.

• Now you can know your number of JioFi.
• You can check your data usage, data validity of your recharged JioFi.
• Also, recharge your number by using the MyJio app.
• You can also access vouchers in the MyJio app.

How to enable voice calling and SMS in JioFi

You can enable HD voice calling and SMS through your smartphone by using the Jio 4G Voice calling app. There are simple steps for that:-

Step 1:- Download and Install the Jio4gVoice app from the Play Store or from the Jio app.

Step 2:- Make sure that you are connected with your JioFi network so that the app will verify your JioFi connection.

Step 3:- Now to make the call go to your dialer make calls, SMS or you can set the Jio 4G Voice app to default for all your messages and calls.

How to reset JioFi

Reset your JioFi is a very easy task as it already comes with the Reset button in the back of JioFi to restore its default. Follow my steps to do so:-

Step 1:- First step is to locate the reset button, To locate remove your back cover of JioFi portable router.

Step 2:- Locate the Reset button, as shown in the figure you will also find the reset button of your JioFi router.

Now as we have located reset buttons now our task is to reset it, follow the instructions:-

Step 3:- Take any soft metal or the best option will be sim ejector tool which will help you to press the reset button of your JioFi router.

Note:- Don’t use any thick or sharp metal objects, it might damage your router.

Step 4:- Press and hold reset buttons until your JioFi router starts blinking. As your router blinks release the button, afterward JioFi will reboot automatically.

Now you have finally reset your JioFi.

Step 5:- Now connect your PC or smartphone with your JioFi and go to the Login page, and reconfigure your router with a new password and username.

As we all know that JioFi 6 is the newest portable router Jio has launched last year accompanied with many features.
