From this, we can select one or more choices to get the promotional messages and the rest of the services will be terminated.
There are mainly two methods through which can activate DND in BSNL the first is by sending an SMS and the second one is by calling on the tollfree number and following the instruction by IVR.
Steps to Activate DND on BSNL by sending SMS
If you want to block all type of SMS and Calls type START 0 and send it to 1909
If you want to receive SMS only regarding Financial products/ Credit Card/ Banking / Insurance type START 1 and send it to 1909.
If you want to receive SMS only regarding Real Estate type START 2 and send it to 1909.
If you want to receive SMS only regarding Education type START 3 and send it to 1909.
If you want to receive SMS only regarding Health type START 4 and send it to 1909.
If you want to receive SMS only regarding Consumer goods and Automobile type START 5 and send it to 1909.
If you want to receive SMS only regarding Communication/ Broadcasting/ Entertainment/IT type START 6 and send it to 1909.
If you want to receive SMS only regarding Tourism type START 7 and send it to 1909.
If you want to select more than one preference than you can use multiple choice example:- START 2,3 and send it to 1909
How to Stop DND in BSNL?
If you want to stop DND on BSNL than you send an SMS STOP DND to 1909. And if you want to stop any promotional service than you can select the preference and send an SMS STOP 1 to 1909 for Financial products/ Credit Card/ Banking / Insurance

You can also call on 1909 and follow the instruction of IVR to activate your DND service on BSNL.
After sending the SMS or making the call on the tollfree number on 1909 it will take 7 days in the Activation of the DND service. You will receive a Reference no. on your mobile number. Through which you can check the status of your request on the BSNL website or TRAI website.
