Have you ever wondered how WiFi and Cell Phone Works? how does your message gets transferred from your mobile phone to any other person around the world with almost instantaneously? let’s take an example when you send a message to your friend who is been at the other side of the world
How Cell phone handles data?
When we press the send button in our favorite messaging app we are just sending a set of instruction to the mobile circuit made up of tiny copper wire printed on PCB (Printed Circuit Board). These instructions are electrical impulses which we could probably the electron impulses flowing along with the potential difference.
So how does these electrical impulses turn out to become radio waves which transfer data wirelessly.

What does an antenna do?
Well here comes the role of an antenna which works as a modem which basically translates the digital signal to analog signal. So when we press the send button on our mobile phone the operating system performs a set of events and encrypt the data which is transformed into analog signals.
Role of Cell Towers.
After that, the phone broadcast the message in all direction for any cell tower to listen to it. Hence cell tower which is near to you will receive the signal.
As a result, analog signals are then received by the cell towers which are nearby you and this signals are converted again into digital signals.
Thus, these signals are now carried through cables across the countries and even continents. Similarly, these data are transferred through a giant network of cables called transatlantic communications cable.
After which the data is send to the cell tower across the ocean which is near to your friend, after that the cell tower converts the digital signal to analog signal which in now sent to you friends mobile phone wirelessly.
Hence, the phone decodes the data and your friend receives a familiar ping.
how does the cell tower recognize the Sender?
So you might have a question that how does the cell tower recognize that it’s you sending the message. Well while transferring the data the mobile phone also sends a unique piece of code to help it to differentiate.
The cell phone agrees on a protocol to send messages to the tower on different time, different Frequencies, different location, different codes so the cell tower is easily able to identify the sender of any particular message.
So at last not all the communication is done wirelessly there are only two steps where the wireless functionality takes place. And all the major process is undertaken by the Optical Fibers which are also known as transatlantic communications cable.
So now you really know how WiFi and Cell Phone Works.
