GE Stopped Servicing Gas Turbines in Russian Thermal Power Plants

General Electric has halted its service of gas turbines at thermal power plants in Russia. The news about this change was reported by the Russian business daily Kommersant.

The general suspension of operations by General Electric in Russia took place following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine. The exception was made for providing vital medical equipment and supporting existing power services in the region.

According to the report from the Russian media, General Electric ceased servicing gas turbines at Russian thermal power plants abruptly, without providing any explanation for the decision.

Gas turbines are a critical component of thermal power plants, generating electricity by utilizing the combustion of natural gas or other fuel sources. Models manufactured by General Electric are known for their efficiency, reliability, and performance.

The turbine servicing operations are needed to provide maintenance, repairs, and technical support for this type of equipment. This includes scheduled maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance, as well as responding to unexpected issues and conducting repairs when necessary.
