From now on, there will be an upper limit to how many Twitter posts users of this social network can read.

The news about the change was announced by Elon Musk, the Executive Chair of Twitter. He commented that the social media platform will implement limitations on the number of tweets users can read per day.
According to him, the purpose of this measure is to minimize excessive data scraping and other manipulations related to the operation of the entire system, in general.
The change has been implemented quite abruptly. Initially, verified accounts were restricted to reading 6,000 posts per day, while unverified accounts had a limit of 600 posts. New unverified accounts had a restriction of being able to read just 300 posts a day.
However, Musk later provided an update stating that the temporary reading limitation has been increased to 10,000 posts per day for verified users, 1,000 posts per day for unverified users, and 500 posts per day for new unverified users.

Previously, Twitter had announced a requirement for users to have an account in order to view tweets, a measure Musk referred to as a “temporary emergency measure” on Friday.
Musk said data scraping is being performed by numerous organizations to a large extent. This increases the server load which ultimately leads to a negative impact on the user experience.
He also voiced discontent with artificial intelligence firms, including OpenAI (the company that created ChatGPT), saying that these companies utilize Twitter data to train their large language models – although he did not mention precisely if this is a legal or illegal activity.
