NineSigma representing Materi’act (Forvia Group) are seeking online/inline technologies which can analyse the grades of contamination of recycled Polypropylene (PP) in solid or molten state in order to maintain its high quality extruded end-products.

Materi’act is a new company created by Forvia, the 7th world’s leading automotive technology company, to massively develop and manufacture cutting-edge sustainable materials with low, and ultra-low footprint with up to 85% CO2 reduction versus current materials.
Today, a significant part of Materi’act’s product portfolio consists of recycled PP enforced with bio-sourced materials. To maintain Materi’act high quality standards it is essential to monitor the contamination levels of the recycled PP closely and to receive immediate feedback allowing immediate interventions.
With this project Materi’act is seeking online/inline analysers which can check the quality of the recycled PP at one of two different stages of interest in the manufacturing process, i.e. in area A where the PP flakes are still in a solid state or in area B where the PP is molten before extrusion (Figure 1).

Submissions to this Challenge must be received by Jul 7, 2023.
