The fully electric vertical take-off and vertical landing (eVTOL) flying car developed by Brazilian electric plane manufacturer Eve Holding Inc, a subsidiary of aircraft manufacturer Embraer, has successfully completed wind tunnel testing. The firm announced this news on Monday.
The completion of wind tunnel tests was a necessary step in order to obtain official certification from state regulators. The start of commercial operations of its fully electric flying vehicle is previewed for 2026.
The wind tunnel tests were conducted in Switzerland. The testing process was completed using a scale model of the eVTOL. This verification was primarily aimed at investigating the performance of some main components components such as the fuselage and wings during flight.

The company aims to finalize the selection of key equipment suppliers in the first half of this year. The start of construction of its first full-scale prototype is planned for the second half of the year. Further testing is scheduled for 2024. The first commercial flying taxi service in Brazil should appear in 2026.
From the technical perspective, this prototype is an electric vertical take-off and landing vehicle (eVTOL), sometimes also referred to as a flying taxi.
Developer’s Chief Technology Officer Luiz Valentini commented that the information gathered during this phase of development will be pivotal in refining the technical solutions before progressing to production tooling and creating conforming prototypes.
So far this year, Eve’s shares have increased by approximately 10%.
